Fox News founder Roger Ailes dead at 77

I just heard this Breaking News – very brief report – on CNN. Switched over to Fox News – nothing yet on this, 7:45am CT Thursday 18 May 2017. As I’m writing this, the Wikipedia listing for him has not yet been updated to include his death. A few news sources found via Internet search are just now reporting it, but not Fox News.

Excerpts from Washington Examiner…

  • Roger Ailes, the founding CEO of Fox News, died Thursday morning, according to a statement by his wife on the Drudge Report.
  • “I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning,” the statement, attributed to Elizabeth Ailes, said. “Roger was a loving husband to me, to his son Zachary, and a loyal friend to many. He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to rise—and to give back. During a career that stretched over more than five decades, his work in entertainment, in politics, and in news affected the lives of many millions. And so even as we mourn his death, we celebrate his life…”
  • Ailes was ousted as the head of Fox last summer after several women accused him of sexual harassment.

Roger Ailes just turned age 77 – born 15 May 1940.

Now as I’m finishing this brief posting 7:56am CT, Fox News is just now reporting it.
