Already I’m seeing commercials on TV for Christmas, and it’s only September 29 (nearly over now) as I write this – now 86 days until Christmas.
What about Thanksgiving? Right. Some turkeys are running for President this year, and others trying to take over U.S. Congress! Sometimes voters eat turkey. Sometimes the turkeys in government eat the voters.
Why did Congress (in 1845) select the first Tuesday in November as Election Day? …Unless that Tuesday is on the 1st of the month… “Lawmakers wanted to prevent election day from falling on the first of November for two reasons. First, November 1st is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation for Roman Catholics. Second, most merchants were in the habit of doing their books from the preceding month on the 1st. Apparently, Congress was worried that the economic success or failure of the previous month might prove an undue influence on the vote!” – Infoplease.com.
…November 1st – All Saints Day. We will not be voting for any saints this election!
It would be more interesting and perhaps appropriate, especially for Election 2016, if Election Day were to be on Halloween – All Hallows Eve – October 31st, instead of Tuesday 8 November 2016. Imagine seeing voters in costume lined up to vote. Imagine the candidates . . . no, if you do, you’ll not get any sleep tonight.
“Devil Woman” for President? Be careful what you wish for. However, no nukes needed, she could probably knock over Vladimir Putin with a single look. She could be the Halloween Party candidate!
If Donald Trump were to do an anti-Hillary Clinton video partly based on a Halloween theme, it might look something like the following music video. However, it would likely backfire on Trump. None of the women in this video look anything like Hillary Clinton, although maybe during her younger years, and maybe a few look like Bill Clinton’s past interests. No, the way things are today, if she looked like any of these frightening horror creatures to terrify voters, Trump would likely lose most of the male vote and some of the female vote.
“Devil Woman” by Cliff Richard is one of my favorites from way back when [1976 when I was age 20].
