The Politics of Anakin Skywalker

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Scene 5…
Anakin Skywalker: I don’t think the system works.
Padmé: How would you have it work?
Anakin Skywalker: We need a system where the politicians sit down
and discuss the problem… agree what’s in the best interest of all people… and then do it.
Padmé: That’s exactly what we do. The trouble is that people don’t always agree.
Anakin Skywalker: Well, then they should be made to.
Padmé: By whom? Who’s going to make them?
Anakin Skywalker: I don’t know. Someone.
Padmé: You?
Anakin Skywalker: Of course not me.
Padmé: But someone.
Anakin Skywalker: Someone wise.
Padmé: Sounds an awful lot like a dictatorship to me.
Anakin Skywalker: Well, if it works.

I’m inclined to agree with the Anakin Skywalker character in that scene. I’m agreeing with a good guy who is going to become a bad guy. Do we need a Darth Vader to forcefully remove the corruption and injustice from this world? Perhaps that is what it is going to be necessary.

Further, what good are the politicians elected to represent us when they do just about everything except representing the will of the people? Our democracy has become an illusion in the form of the representative government ruled by greed. Make no mistake about it. We do live in an evil greedy corrupt money-worshiping vulture culture.

I can understand how anger, fear, and hatred can lead to and be the path to the so-called dark side of the force, but maybe the dark side is needed to some extent for justice. There are no Jedi in our world to defend us, and our equivalent of the light side of the force has never stopped people from engaging in willful evil.

There is something wrong with our government, here in the US. Extreme far left liberal Democrats and extreme far right conservative Republicans are wrecking this country and causing a widening gap in the political middle, of which no “third party” is able to fill. The “moderates” in our government are abandoning the fight when they are most needed. The “centrists” are in a useless state of anarchy. Independent voters are failing to get organized well enough to make a difference for the better. It now appears we are quickly approaching a dead end, a kind of political zombie apocalypse in government. Maybe it should be treated like a disease, and we need to quickly find a cure.

I do like the music! Star Wars – The Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme).
